STRONG RETURNS

Following knee surgery, nine months of rehabilitation and an eight-game suspension, Sacramento's Chris Webber had 26 points and 12 rebounds in his season debut, Tuesday night's 113-106 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. ... Vince Carter, who missed six games after spraining his left ankle, came off the injured list to score 27 points and help Toronto snap a nine-game losing streak with an 89-86 victory over Miami.

TRIPLE TROUBLE

Los Angeles guard Gary Payton posted his 15th career regular-season triple-double, but the Lakers lost to Atlanta 94-93 on Tuesday night. Payton had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

FILLING IN

Rookie Marquis Daniels, in his second career start, finished with 14 points, nine assists and nine rebounds at point guard for Dallas in place of Steve Nash (stomach virus) in Tuesday night's 107-96 win over Seattle. ... Lucious Harris, subbing for league assists leader Jason Kidd (knee bruise), had eight points and nine assists to lead New Jersey past Denver 95-91.

SCORING

Toronto and Miami combined to score 19 points in the fourth quarter of the Raptors' 89-86 victory Tuesday night, breaking the NBA record for fewest total points in the final period. The mark was previously set when Toronto outscored Golden State 18-2 on Feb. 8.

STRONG IN DEFEAT

Los Angeles' Corey Maggette scored 32 points, but the Clippers fell for the fourth time in five games, 113-106 to Sacramento on Tuesday night. ... Mike Dunleavy had 24 points and a career-high 20 rebounds in Golden State's 96-88 loss to Indiana. ... Rookie Carmelo Anthony had 26 points, including 15 in the first quarter, but Denver dropped a 95-91 decision to New Jersey for its sixth loss in seven games.

Both were ejected in Indiana's 96-88 win Tuesday night after two separate confrontations at each end of the court.
