The Toronto Star reports that the Raptors will add point guard Rod Strickland to the roster on Friday in time for their matchup with the New York Knicks.
The paper reports that Strickland, 37, will have his physical Friday before signing a contract for the rest of the season.
The Star added that the Raptors are expected to waive guard Jannero Pargo to make room for Strickland, who will make the pro-rated portion of the veteran minimum salary of just over $1 million US for the rest of the season.
Because Strickland was placed on waivers before last Monday at midnight, he will be eligible for the playoff roster if the Raptors clinch a postseason berth.
Strickland was averaging 6.8 points and 4.0 assists for the Magic before being waived by the team. The 17-year NBA veteran played stints with the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers, Washington Wizards, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves.
