TRIPLE THREAT
Forward Lamar Odom earned the first triple-double by a Heat player in nine years, helping Miami beat Sacramento 102-96 on Saturday. It was the eighth career triple performance by Odom, who scored a season-high 30 points, grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds and tied his career high with 11 assists. It was also the fourth in Heat history and first since Billy Owens versus Minnesota on Jan. 5, 1995. Miami's stretch of 739 games without a triple-double was the longest in the NBA. Utah now has the longest at 390.
ON A ROLL
Memphis registered its 13th win in 16 games, a 98-92 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers Saturday. The Grizzlies, who improved to a franchise-record 14 games over .500 (38-24), are four wins short of clinching a winning record for the first time in the franchise's nine-year history.
POOR SHOOTING
Denver played like the team that set the league scoring futility mark last season in its 97-66 loss to Detroit. The Nuggets, just 1{ games ahead of Utah for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, shot 32 percent and didn't have a player score in double figures in losing for the seventh time in eight games.
STRONG IN DEFEAT
Forward Amare Stoudemire led Phoenix with 23 points in the Suns' 107-86 loss to San Antonio Saturday night. Stoudemire, the team's top scorer in the last 11 games, has scored 20 points or more in each contest, the longest such streak for a Phoenix player since Charles Barkley did it during the 1994-95 season.
FINED
The NBA fined Miami coach Stan Van Gundy $7,500 and assistant coach Bob McAdoo $5,000 on Saturday for verbally abusing game officials and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following the Heat's 89-86 loss to Toronto Tuesday night.
SPEAKING
``Over 82 games you're going to have a lot of jewels and some bummers. This was a bummer.'' _ Denver coach Jeff Bzdelik, after the Nuggets failed to have a player score in double figures in their 97-66 loss to Detroit. The last time a team didn't have a double-figure scorer was Nov. 22, 1950, when the Fort Wayne Pistons beat the Minneapolis Lakers 19-18.
