MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin athletics officials scheduled a news conference Thursday, as a newspaper reported that point guard Devin Harris will forgo a final season with the Badgers to fully enter the NBA draft.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reporting on its Web site, quoted an unnamed source as confirming Harris' decision. There was no answer when The Associated Press telephoned the home of Harris' family for comment Wednesday night.
Harris was last season's Big Ten player of the year and helped the Badgers reach the NCAA tournament.
He averaged 19.5 points, 4.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds, as Wisconsin finished with a 25-7 record, including 12-4 in conference play.
The Wisconsin Athletics Department said Harris and coach Bo Ryan would attend the news conference at 10 a.m. CDT Thursday in the Kohl Center, "in regard to the men's basketball program ...."
The 6-foot-3 Harris, a second-team All-American last season, had declared himself eligible for the NBA draft last month but said he wouldn't hire an agent, leaving open the possibility of returning
