The U.S. Olympic men's basketball team did what head coach Larry Brown asked of them by ``playing the right way'' and dominating the defending world champion Serbia-Montenegro team in a big 78-60 exhibition victory.

The win was driven by defense.

The Americans held the opposition to just nine points in the second quarter.

Tim Duncan led the way with 16 points and LeBron James added 11.

The win could re-establish the U.S. as the gold medal favorites.

``We are the team that everyone wants to play their best basketball against,'' Lamar Odom said. ``We're playing for a lot, and it means a lot to us.''

A 14-0 run to begin the second quarter put the U.S. in control.

``We have a young team and are still learning about each other and hopefully that will improve as each of these games goes on,'' Brown said. ``The experience we had playing here was real important for us.''
