The Seattle SuperSonics received good news Tuesday when the Tacoma News Tribune is reporting that injured forward Rashard Lewis might not only play in the Sonics season opener Wednesday, but he might start too.

The team?s medical staff has revised its opinion of Lewis? plantar fasciitis injury, believing it to be not as severe as originally thought.

Team trainer Mike Shimensky told coach Nate McMillan and general manager Rick Sund that since Lewis is feeling soreness only in his heel and not in his arch, he does not believe Lewis will injure the foot further if he plays.

?I?m just uncomfortable watching my team go out there our first game of the season without me out there,? Lewis said. ?I know I am a big part of this team winning ballgames, and it is important for me as a captain to be out there and give as much as I can to try to help us win ballgames.?

?If I am hurting during the game or (this) morning, then I won?t play because I don?t want to injure it no further.?
