The Minnesota Timberwolves signed their first-round draft pick, guard Rashad McCants, on Monday.
McCants, who is 6-foot-4, was taken by the Timberwolves with the 14th overall selection last month. The 20-year-old, who left North Carolina after winning the national championship in his junior season, averaged 17.6 points per game over his career with the Tar Heels.
"I'm really looking forward to coaching him and having him join our team," coach Dwane Casey said.
McCants will join the Wolves for a mini-camp this week and then play on their summer league team. Games begin Friday and conclude July 19.
