Timberwolves all-star Kevin Garnett got the latter part of Monday's practice off so he could ice his legs.

Garnett is not injured. He's just enjoying a little rest as part of a bigger plan.

Coach Dwane Casey said he planned to give Garnett regular breaks during the exhibition season this month. When the regular season begins Nov. 2, Casey will formulate a routine for resting Garnett during games.

Casey was an assistant for 11 seasons in Seattle, and star players such as Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp were afforded the same treatment.

"I want to win games, not practices," Casey said.
