Seattle SuperSonics forward Rashard Lewis injured his left shoulder in the first quarter of Wednesday night's game against the Cavaliers when he crashed into teammate Vitaly Potapenko.

Lewis was retreating on defense in the foul lane trying to slow Cavs forward LeBron James when he banged into the 6-foot-10, 285-pound Potapenko. Lewis immediately grabbed his shoulder before being helped off the floor.

The Sonics said Lewis suffered a slippage of the joint in his shoulder and would not return.

The 26-year-old Lewis is averaging 16.7 points and 7.3 rebounds. Last season, he averaged 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in 71 games.
