There have been times through the first 15 games of the season when Lawrence Frank has told Vince Carter he needs to take matters into his own hands more often. That's not to say that Frank wants Carter to forget about his teammates, but just to play more like the Vince Carter who used to dominate in Toronto.
Though Carter knows exactly what Frank is talking about, he also is aware of the fact the team he plays for now is nothing like the Raptors. So he thinks playing ball-hog might be more hurtful than helpful.

"He tells me to play my game," Carter said, "but I'm never going to (play selfishly). We have a lot of guys (here) who do a lot of good things."

Though he has proven he can still take over games, Carter doesn't feel he needs to do that anymore since the cast around him is more talented than it was during his days in Toronto. Then, Carter clearly was the main man. Now, a couple of his teammates - Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson - are two of the most talented players in the league.

"It's a different team. We have more weapons, more guys who can put the ball in the basket," said Carter, who is averaging just over three assists per game. "So I just pick my spots, not try to do too much because we have a lot more."
