Chris Wilcox' 26 points, 24 rebounds game recently didn't do any harm to his off season free agency status, the Seattle Times are reporting, with many believing the forward is one of the top ten free agents on the market this summer.
"Our No. 1 priority from the free-agent perspective is to re-sign Chris," general manager Rick Sund said Thursday. "He's going be our top priority. Now we've got the draft to look at and the coaching issue, but we've certainly been happy with the way he's played.
"Chemistry-wise, he's fitting in very well, so you look at that and appreciate the importance of that. ... In July, we'll sit down with Chris and see if we can't get something done."
Sund said the team plans to tender Wilcox a qualifying offer as soon as collective-bargaining rules permit, which would give Seattle the right to match any offer he might receive from another team.
