Yao Ming was cleared on Tuesday to replace his protective boot with regular shoes and to increase his rehabilitation. The Rockets' center had surgery to repair a broken foot earlier this year.

"His rehabilitation is on track," Rockets spokesman Nelson Luis said. "The healing process has gone faster than his doctors expected. He is ahead of schedule."
