The New Jersey Nets hope that if rookie Marcus Williams can play well, Jason Kidd can rest throughout the game and turn it on late.

The plan worked in the Nets' season opener.

After three tight and somewhat sloppy quarters by both teams, Kidd jump-started the Nets in the fourth and helped them claim a 102-92 win over Toronto on Wednesday night at Continental Arena with his 76th career triple-double.

"Same old J. Kidd," Vince Carter said. "Who said he's getting old?"

He finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
