The future of the Kings in Sacramento is in limbo. Voters in Sacramento County overwhelmingly rejected ? by 80 percent to 20 percent ? a measure calling for a one-quarter percent sales tax increase to build a downtown arena, the East Valley Tribune is reporting.

Some are questioning whether the Maloof brothers wanted to keep the Kings in Sacramento at all.

Robert Waste, professor of public policy at California State University, Sacramento, said, ?If they were trying to sabotage (the arena plan) from Day 1, I don?t think they?d have done anything differently.?

Joe Maloof said the brothers are still committed to Sacramento, ?But it all comes down to a facility. Arco is the second-oldest building in the league. It doesn?t work anymore, not if you want to stay competitive.?
