Allen Iverson was contacted Wednesday by NBA officials, and he expects to be fined for comments he made Tuesday about veteran referee Steve Javie.
"Yeah, I expect it, and rightfully so," Iverson said after practice Thursday. "It's a fine that I deserve. I was frustrated at the time, and I let my emotions get the best of me."
Iverson was ejected by Javie after receiving his second technical foul with 1:44 remaining in the Nuggets' 108-97 loss Tuesday to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The game was Iverson's first against the 76ers since being traded from Philadelphia to Denver on Dec. 19.
During a postgame news conference, Iverson told reporters he and Javie have an acrimonious history and insinuated Javie was acting on a personal vendetta.
"I said I thought he was calling the game personally," Iverson said shortly after the game. "I feel like it's been personal between me and him ever since I've gotten into the league (in 1996). This was a perfect game for him to try to make me look bad."
Iverson said Thursday he regretted his remarks and praised Javie for his work during 21 NBA seasons.
"He's a great referee, and, obviously, he's one of the top referees because he's been around for a long time, and he's earned the respect that he's gotten over the years," Iverson said. "It was just bad judgment on my part, and I just wish it never happened.
"It's not something that I'm proud of as far as kids seeing and kids having to hear it - especially my kids. It's just something that I regret because it got negative feedback.
"I'm disappointed in myself, and, hopefully, after I get the fine, the whole thing will be over."
