The Nets and Lakers have indeed discussed a Jason Kidd trade, but reportedly have not spoken for a few weeks.  The current indications are that Kidd will not be dealt ahead of the February 22nd trade deadline.

"I can't speak about any particular discussions I've had with any teams," said Thorn, who re-iterated his stance that he does not foresee anything surfacing before the deadline. "I've spoken to 27 teams over the past month. Some talks were initiated by them, some initiated by us."
