While Rockets rookie guard Aaron Brooks described the event as something to get over with, he did have to admit that signing his first NBA contract on Saturday held at least some symbolic significance.

``I just signed today, this morning,'' Brooks said, ``so today was a good day.''

Brooks' rookie deal is worth $2.02 million over the two guaranteed years of the contract slotted for the 26th player taken in the draft.
