Jason Kidd made progress in his comeback from an injured back when he worked out on the Meadowlands floor about three hours before the Nets took on the Celtics in a preseason game last night.

Kidd, who has torn tissue around a disk in his lower back, did some cutting and agility drills, according to Lawrence Frank, who called the session "a positive step."

Kidd has not practiced since Oct. 14 and has yet to play in any of the Nets' four preseason games.
