Jay Triano will make NBA history on Wednesday night when he fills in for Toronto Head Coach Sam Mitchell against the Nets, according to The Vancouver Sun.

Triano will become the first Canadian ever to coach an NBA regular season game.

"Initially it was where people just looked at, 'You're a Canadian, and you're the fourth assistant, and that's good,'" Triano, who is in his sixth year as an assistant with the team, told the Sun.

"But I think over time you work hard, and you get yourself into position where something like this is a possibility now."
