The New Jersey Nets may be close to adding forward Jarvis Hayes, the New York Post is reporting.
"It's close," Hayes said of a possible deal with the Nets. "There is definitely some interest there. And interest here. I can't talk too much about it."
"They're still a very highly competitive team," Hayes said of the Nets. "I see myself coming in and if everything works out, being a pretty good piece for them. They've got a very good head coach and V.C. [Vince Carter]. So we'll see. It's a highly competitive team."
Hayes was in Orlando yesterday and spoke with Nets brass, namely team president Rod Thorn and GM Kiki Vandeweghe. Neither side discussed contract terms, but Hayes is coming off one year in Detroit where he earned $1.2 million.
