The Dallas Mavericks have signed forward Devean George to a two-year contract worth roughly $4 million, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein.
Agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN on Wednesday that the deal includes a player option for George to return to free agency after the 2008-09 season.
The agreement comes as a surprise to some after George's controversial refusal in February to be included in the Mavericks' trade with the New Jersey Nets for Jason Kidd.
