For the second straight season, Atlanta scorekeepers find themselves in controversy.
Cleveland head coach Mike Brown told reporters after the game that the Cavaliers will file a formal complaint against the Atlanta scorekeepers.
Brown and his coaching staff were informed that Delonte West had four fouls, when in fact, he only had three. The Hawks scoring crew had accidentally added a personal foul to Delonte West when he received a Technical foul in the second quarter.
Thinking West had four fouls, Coach Brown sat the guard the last 3 minutes of the third quarter. It wasn't until between quarters when Brown discovered the crew's mistake.
"We are going to do what we have to do in order to file a formal complaint," said Brown, "Because again, This is my livelihood and this is our players livelihood. We take this seriously."
Last season, the Miami Heat filed and won a protest against the Hawks for an error that caused Shaquille O'Neal to foul out. The two teams had to replay the final 51.9 seconds of play.
The Hawks were fined for last year's scoring error.
