The Nets could have acquired guard Luke Ridnour from the Bucks prior to the Feb. 19 trade deadline, but opted not to for financial reasons.

New Jersey would have landed Ridnour and rookie forward Joe Alexander for Maurice Ager and Stromile Swift in the proposed deal.

The deal appears to have been a no-brainer for the Nets, but would have added $9 million in salary next season. Both Swift, who was waived, and Ager have expiring contracts.

Milwaukee was willing to swing the deal so they could save money to re-sign Charlie Villanueva and Ramon Sessions.
