Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun will not be on the sideline for the Huskies' first-round game NCAA tournament against UT-Chattanooga on Thursday because of an illness.

"Coach Calhoun has not been feeling well for the past several days and it is best that he not coach the team today for precautionary reasons," UConn director of sports medicine Dr. Jeff Anderson said in a release.

Associate coach George Blaney will direct the Huskies in Calhoun's absence on Thursday.

UConn would not speculate on whether Calhoun would be available to lead the Huskies for the rest of the tournament.
