The Timberwolves hired Kurt Rambis as their newest head coach in hopes that he'll be able to connect with their young roster.

"This arguably is the most important decision I will make, and thus it required a lot of time," said general manager David Kahn, according to the Associated Press. "His reputation around the league is that he is a wonderful teacher who is hands-on on the court and one who understands that part of our business and will really energize it."

Minnesota is expected to introduce Rambis on Tuesday.

Kahn added that he believes Rambis is a natural fit to mold the "young" Timberwolves, who haven't made the postseason since 2004.
