Heat president Pat Riley has offered one-year extensions to many of the club's basketball operations staff.

On Tuesday, it was reported that the team asked the department to accept pay reductions of up to 20 percent this offseason. The extensions are the club's way of softening the blow.

Riley and Miami coach Erik Spoelstra were among those that took a pay cut.

Under NBA rules, players are exempt from pay cuts.
