Miami's Michael Beasley is expected to start at small forward this season.

He should be starting at the position when the Heat take on the Pistons in their preseason opener on Monday night.

Beasley played with Miami's first-team unit during Sunday's scrimmage.

"[I'm] not officially going to disclose, but that's probably the direction," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told the Miami Herald of Beasley starting. "Michael's in incredible shape. It's not hands on knees. His mind is not on other things. In every way, you can tell he's a highly-conditioned athlete."

Beasley has split time at both forward spots in camp.
