A league source has confirmed to the Arizona Republic that Suns center Channing Frye has been selected to participate in the All-Star weekend's 3-point shootout on Feb. 13.

No center has ever won the event and Frye is the first at his position to participate since Sam Perkins represented Seattle in 1997.

Frye is shooting a career-high 44% from downtown and his 114 three-pointers trail only New York's Danilo Gallinari (122) and Houston's Aaron Brooks (115).
