Minnesota Timberwolves guard Jonny Flynn was assigned to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Minnesota’s NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced today.  The assignment marks the 14th time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the first assignment for Flynn, a second-year pro out of Syracuse.

Flynn (6-0, 195) has been inactive since undergoing hip surgery in July.  Last season, Flynn averaged 13.5 points, 4.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 81 games (all starts) and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

The Timberwolves chose Flynn, an early entry candidate for the 2009 NBA Draft, in the first round with the sixth overall pick.  In two seasons at Syracuse, Flynn averaged 16.6 points, 6.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds, and was an AP All-America Honorable Mention selection as a sophomore.
