Michigan State entered the season with high hopes, but they haven't lived up to expectations so far.

The Spartans lost to Penn State 66-62 on Saturday, perhaps putting even their NCAA Tournament hopes in question.

Tom Izzo called it "one of the more disappointing losses of my career" because he did not see it coming after a pair of encouraging practices.

"You want to win a championship, you've got to win games like this," MSU senior guard Kalin Lucas said.
