Before the game starts, Ben Hansbrough’s already put in a full day's work.

Four times a week at 8 a.m., Hansbrough meets with Pat Holmes, his volunteer drill engineer, to work on his game.

"Hey, people have different formulas for success," Hansbrough said. "This is just one way I've found as a formula to work. It has been paying off. So why stop?"

Hansbrough’s morning practice sessions consist of ballhandling drills and multiple sets of mid-range and 3-point shooting at game speed with chairs arranged variously on the floor.
