The Tar Heels are 13-1 since Kendall Marshall replaced Larry Drew II in the starting lineup.

Sophomore forward  John Henson essentially explained Roy Williams’ decision as choosing between offense (Marshall) and defense (Drew II).

"(Williams) won't put offense ahead of defense," said Henson, the league's Defensive Player of the Year. "That was the reason why. … But it was pretty clear (in practice). Kendall's a different type of guy. We have a lot of weapons on offense, and he caters to that."

Harrison Barnes blossomed, averaging 17.1 points in 13 games alongside Marshall. On Tuesday, Barnes was named ACC Freshman of the Year.

"(Marshall) is the kind of point guard that does make people better. He gets them the ball where they can shoot and score," Williams said. "And as long as they hang that thing from the ceiling or the wall called a scoreboard, that's what you're supposed to do."
