After taking away neither layups nor 3-pointers from Chicago’s Derrick Rose on Friday night during his romp to a career-best 44 points, the Atlanta Hawks might opt Sunday in Game 4 to have Rose do more of his scoring from the foul line.
The Hawks were promising fouls Saturday after their practice at Philips Arena. Hard, physical, playoff-worthy fouls.
“The problem I had last night with his 44 was not that he scored 44,” Atlanta coach Larry Drewsaid, “but how he got them. [When] a guy that shoots the ball as much as he does, there’s a chance his numbers would be pretty good. But if we’re allowing him to just constantly get to the paint and score on uncontested shots, that’s what I have a problem with.
“I’m not saying hurt people or things like that. But you’ve got to give physical fouls. It’s the playoffs.”
