Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird said Frank Vogel is the frontrunner to become the team’s permanent head coach.

“I haven’t really gotten into the interview process, but obviously he’s the frontrunner and we’ll bring him back at the end (of the interviews) and have more conversations,” Bird said during a press conference today.

Vogel led the Pacers to a 20-18 record and the playoffs for the first time since 2006 after taking over for the fired Jim O’Brien at the end of January.
