Free agent guard Dominique Jones has signed with the Springfield Armor of the NBA D-League, his agent told RealGM.

While Jones received interest from two NBA teams since being waived by the Dallas Mavericks on March 9, the 24-year-old believes playing in the D-League will allow him to log significant minutes and continue to develop. Jones is still open to signing with an NBA team before the end of the season, preferably under a contract that is partially guaranteed for next season.

Jones will report to Springfield on Monday and is expected to play Tuesday against the Erie BayHawks.

“Dominique just wants to keep growing, keep improving, and he’ll get a chance to do that now,” agent Michael Hodges said Friday.

The former first-round pick acquired by the Mavericks in the 2010 draft, Jones averaged four points and almost three assists in 29 games this season. He averaged 17.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.4 rebounds in 13 games over the past two seasons with the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ D-League affiliate.
