Jason Collins remains a free agent three weeks ahead of the start of the season.

The Sacramento Kings are among four teams that have expressed interest in Collins, but they decided to instead sign Hamady Ndiaye to comete for their final roster spot.

Collins announced that he is gay last May.

"There are a lot of good players who are on the cusp of being in or out of the NBA," said Bob Myers, his former agent and current GM of the Golden State Warriors. "I think he will get a chance."

An NBA source said Collins is "stronger than ever" while waiting for a team to call.

Collins is a likely candidate to at least be signed in January after teams have an opportunity to evaluate their roster.
