The Brooklyn Nets are considering signing Jason Collins to a 10-day contract.

Collins would become the first openly gay player in any of America's four major professional men's sports.

“He's obviously on the list,” GM Billy King said. “We're looking at any guy guys that are free agents and he's one of the guys, but we've got other guys that we're going to look at. (Jason Kidd) and I will visit tomorrow, he's got the list, I've got the list, ownership has got the list ... we're going to look at it and try to find the best guy possible for us.”

Collins worked out for the Nets during the All-Star break.

The Clippers are also interested in signing Collins.

“We’re going to bring in a basketball player,” King said. “It’s not about marketing or anything like that... if we’re bringing somebody in, we’re bringing them in because we feel they can help our basketball team.”
