The Miami Heat included $5.1 million in cash in their deal with the Dallas Mavericks to clear the salary of Josh McRoberts.

Miami took back the contract of A.J. Hammons from the Mavericks, who is guaranteed $1.3 million this season and $1.5 million next season.

The Mavericks also received a 2023 second round pick.

Miami had $11.8 million in cap space to sign James Johnson while being able to retain Wayne Ellington.

Because Johnson's starting point on his deal is $14 million, the Heat created the extra necessary room by using the performance bonus.
