Mike Brown remains interested in becoming a head coach again but he's enjoying his current role as Steve Kerr's lead assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors.

“I want to be a head coach again," said Brown. "But if I hadn’t experienced that already and if I wasn’t in a situation that I’m already in right now, maybe the itch might be there more,” Brown said. “Maybe I might be focused more on that than the task at hand. But I’m really excited about trying to do what I can and do my part in helping us win again.”

Brown served as interim head coach for 12 games during last year's playoffs when Steve Kerr had to take a medical leave.

The New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets have vacancies but Brown is only interested in teams with proven rosters and front office synergy.

“I enjoy working for this organization. We have a chance to win, not just this year, but we have a chance to win for many years with the makeup of this team,” Brown said. “I enjoy winning. So because of that, it’s easy for me to want to stay.”

“He’s a really creative coach. He likes to think the game,” Gregg Popovich said of Brown. “He likes to think out of the box. He likes wine. That was enough for me. He’s a really enjoyable guy.”
