There is increasingly belief that Kyrie Irving will opt out of his $36.5 million contract with the Brooklyn Nets to sign the $6 million taxpayer midlevel with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

Irving would hope to re-sign with the Lakers on a long-term deal in 2023 when the team has more salary cap flexibility.

The Nets have been unwilling to satisfy Irving's long-term contract request. Brooklyn has also appeared to not be interested in sign-and-trade scenarios involving the Lakers.

Irving has until Wednesday afternoon to decide upon his opt-in with the Nets.
