Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman have been in contact with the Brooklyn Nets recently, a source told Stefan Body of the New York Daily News.

Durant was not in communication with the Nets after they were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round by the Boston Celtics.

The Nets were unaware of Durant' unhappiness but surprised by his trade request. Their assumption has been that Kyrie Irving's contract dispute with the Nets played a major role, but they haven't been told specific reasons.

The Nets also released Adam Harrington as assistant coach. Harrington is a known favorite of Durant dating back to their time together with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Durant is known to change his mind and always play when healthy, which creates the possibility of the Nets trying to keep him if they can't find a satisfactory trade.
