NBC is bidding on the NBA more than 20 years after the company lost their rights to ESPN and Turner.

NBC Sports wants a package that would include playoff games to air on NBC’s broadcast network. As part of the deal NBC is seeking, they would also air some regular season games exclusively on Peacock.

The NBA could also decide to force media companies to simulcast all games on streaming to increase reach.

Amazon and Apple also have interest in streaming packages.

The NBA cannot engage formally with non-incumbent bidders until April 2024, though TNT and ESPN could waive their exclusive negotiation windows.

The NBA's current deal with ESPN and TNT expires after the 24-25 season. The three parties reached an extension in 2014 without opening talks with outside bidders.
