The Houston Rockets signed-and-waived guards Caleb McConnell and Daishen Nix. Houston then signed big man Vernon Carey Jr. and guards Ricky Council IV and Tyrese Hunter. All five players signed Exhibit 10 contracts.

The expectation is that all five players will join the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for the upcoming G League season.

Carey played for Karsiyaka in Turkey last season. The 6-foot-9 forward/center averaged 15.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game last season.

Council spent the last two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 7.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in 73 games with the Sixers last season.

Hunter went undrafted out of Memphis at the 2025 NBA Draft. The 6-foot guard averaged 13.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals as a senior for the Tigers.

McConnell played for the Greensboro Swarm in the G League last season. The 6-foot-7 wing averaged 6.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals last season.

Nix split last season between the Minnesota Timberwolves, Iowa Wolves and the Vipers last season. In 34 total G League games, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 17.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 2.2 steals last season.
