The Golden State Warriors have been linked to a number of players in trade reports. One of those players is Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Since their max salaries are an exact match at $54.1 million, some have suggested the Warriors could trade Jimmy Butler for Antetokounmpo.
However, the Warriors have reportedly given Butler assurances that they don't intend to trade him. Golden State GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. said he didn't "envision" trading Butler as part of a trade package when asked about the possibility of trading the injured forward.
Butler is expected to miss approximately one year as he rehabs from a torn ACL suffered on January 19. The Warriors could use his contracts as a way to add talent around Stephen Curry. With the team linked to Antetokounmpo, trading Butler in such a deal would allow the team to avoid sacrificing depth by sending multiple players to Milwaukee.
