The Detroit Pistons are looking towards next season, while still competing in the 2026 NBA Playoffs. The Pistons reportedly are close to agreeing with veteran forward Isaac Bonga on a deal that would bring him back to the NBA. Bonga is currently playing for Partizan in Serbia.
The 6-foot-8 forward last played in the NBA in 2022 with the Toronto Raptors. Prior to that, Bonga spent one season with the Los Angeles Lakers and two seasons with the Washington Wizards.
Despite showing potential in the NBA, the German national never broke through. Over the last four seasons, split between Bayern Munich in Germany and Partizan, Bonga has broken through. This season he averaged 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds on 51/37/83 shooting splits.
The 26-year-old has also become a valuable member of the German national team. Bonga has appeared in two Olympics, the FIBA World Cup and EuroBasket, as well as qualifiers for the aforementioned tournaments for Germany.
Several NBA teams reached out to Partizan about Bonga's availability midseason, but the Serbian club held off interest. Bonga has a buyout of $875,000 this offseason that would allow him to join an NBA team.
