Ayo Dosunmu is projected to re-sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves during his upcoming unrestricted free agency, sources tell ESPN. Dosunmu should command a contract from the Wolves slightly above the midlevel exception starting at approximately $15 million, which is what rival teams can offer.
Dosunmu averaged 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 28.9 minutes across 24 regular season games with the Wolves. In the playoffs, Dosunmu averaged 15.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 29.2 minutes across 10 games.
The Wolves acquired Dosunmu at the trade deadline from the Chicago Bulls. Dosunmu's potential role with the Wolves became even more important next season following the Achilles injury to Donte DiVincenzo. The Wolves lost considerable backcourt depth last season when they were unable to re-signed Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who left for the Atlanta Hawks and became the NBA's Most Improved Player.
Dosunmu is represented by Mike Lindeman.
