Denver Nuggets forward Spencer Jones is coming off a breakout season. That's good timing for Jones, as he enters the restricted free agent market this summer. On the Nuggets side, VP of player personnel Jon Wallace made it clear the team wants to keep Jones in Denver.
"Spencer’s done himself a lot good, a lot of favors this past year, specifically how he stepped in, defended, made shots," Wallace said. "He was just a big part of what we did, but we feel confident. He’s a homegrown guy. You want to reward those guys with them sticking to the plan and really developing themselves. We feel confident where we are."
The 6-foot-7 forward started last season on a two-way contract. After becoming a regular starter due to injuries to other players, Denver eventually signed Jones to rest-of-season standard deal.
The 25-year-old averaged 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 22.1 minutes per game in his second NBA season. Jones also provided consistent defense, while shooting 50.4% from the field, including 39.6% on three-pointers.
