Deandre Ayton has opted into his $8.1 million player option for the 2026-27 season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Ayton could have opted for free agency for the second consecutive season after agreeing to a buyout of his $35.6 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2025.
Ayton had an uneven season while starting at center for the Lakers, who are believed to be prioritizing an addition at the position this offseason.
Ayton averaged 12.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in 27.2 minutes across 72 games for the Lakers.
Bill Duffy and Nima Namakian represent Ayton. Duffy also represents Luka Doncic.
