The Denver Nuggets have reached out to express interest in signing LeBron James. James made the decision on Tuesday that he will explore his options in free agency and leave the Los Angeles Lakers after eight seasons with the franchise.

The Nuggets tried to recruit James to the Nuggets in 2018 when he was a free agent and ultimately left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Lakers.

James has described Nuggets team president Josh Kroenke as a "very dear friend."

The Nuggets would give James the opportunity to team up with Nikola Jokic.

The Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat have been mentioned by ESPN as the three most probable destinations for James. But with James willing to take less money in free agency, the Nuggets open up as a possibility.
