The 2007 NBA Draft was one of the most anticipated in basketball history.  It had superstar power at the top with Oden and Durant, and extreme depth with Jared Dudley, Aaron Brooks and Alando Tucker being drafted in the twenties. With that said, many players in this Draft will be expected to contribute immediately to winning teams, while others will be asked to help rebuild their team from the bottom.

Let?s take a look at what to expect from the thirty first-rounders during the 2007-08 season:

1. Greg Oden (Trailblazers) ? The coaching staff will have to temper their expectations, as they must understand Oden is far from a polished offensive player. The scoring load will initially be placed on reigning ROY Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge. The Blazers? greatest asset this season will be Oden?s dominating force on the defensive end. But as his two summer league games showed, he will have to keep himself out of foul trouble in the process. Expect Oden to average close to 10 and 10, with around 2.5 blocks a game.

2. Kevin Durant (Sonics) ? With little offensive help, Durant will be asked to shoulder the scoring load this season. He should average 20+ points, while hoisting up an Iverson-esque number of shots. As he proved at Texas Durant also has tremendous rebounding ability, but his frame might limit him in his rookie campaign. Expect him to average around seven boards a game. Durant should be the front-runner for Rookie of the Year honors.

3. Al Horford (Hawks) ? Horford will battle Shelden Williams and Marvin Williams for minutes at the Hawks forward positions.  As the Summer League proved, Williams seems to be more ready now while Horford projects as the better player down the road.

4. Mike Conley (Grizzlies) ? Conley?s excellent play in the Summer League indicated that he should start from Day One and have a nice season for a struggling team. Until he improves his shot, do not expect too many points, but he should lead all rookies in assists with around seven per game. A dark horse for Rookie of the Year.

5. Jeff Green (Sonics) ? Expect Green to see a lot of minutes this season for the struggling Sonics as they try and create chemistry between their pair of top-five picks.  He should post solid all-around numbers, but he needs to become more assertive on the offensive end. Otherwise he?ll fade into the offense as he did against Ohio State in the Final Four.

6. Yi Jianlian (Bucks) ? Remains a huge question mark as it is unknown if he will even play in the NBA this season.  Even if he does play, do not expect too much from Yi as he will most likely need a year to adjust to the NBA?s style of play.

7. Corey Brewer (Timberwolves) ? Brewer?s mid-range jump shot and slashing ability will be a great help to a team in rebuilding mode, while his superb defense will assure him minutes from the start.  Brewer will team with Randy Foye and Al Jefferson as the centerpieces around which Kevin McHale hopes to build a winning franchise.

8. Brandan Wright (Warriors) ? Wright is the rawest player among the top ten picks, as he showed flashes of greatness at UNC but was unable to maintain it on a game-to-game basis. Golden State has a thin frontline, so Wright could squeeze himself into the rotation if he plays well.  However, Nellie prefers a small rotation so don?t be surprised if Wright spends most of the year on the bench.

9. Joakim Noah (Bulls) ? Noah could not have landed in a better situation. The Bulls will not ask him to do too much but provide rebounding, defense and energy off the bench. Noah?s offensive limitations will restrict his immediate contribution.

10. Spencer Hawes (Kings) ? Hawes will back up starter Brad Miller and will be groomed as his eventual replacement. Hawes has nice touch from outside and around the basket, but he must prove that he has the toughness to play down low in the NBA.

11. Acie Law (Hawks) ? After passing on point guards the past two drafts, the Hawks finally addressed their biggest need. After four seasons at Texas A&M Law is ready to contribute immediately, so expect Law to earn the starting job alongside Joe Johnson.

12. Thaddeus Young (Sixers) ? Ideally he will crack the rotation as the seventh or eighth man, with the worst-case scenario being a brief stint in the D-League. Young is an athletic small forward who has a high ceiling, but will need to learn to play at a consistent level every night. Playing for the rebuilding Sixers will increase his minutes and could expedite his development.

13. Julian Wright (Hornets) ? Expect Wright to crack the rotation as a rookie, but his minutes will be limited.  He has great athleticism and raw ability, but many aspects of his game need to be improved before he can be expected to contribute on a nightly basis.

14. Al Thornton (Clippers) ? The Clippers have been looking for a productive forward off the bench and expect Thornton to fill that role this year. Thornton?s seventeen points per game in the Summer League created a lot of excitement about his scoring ability while his athleticism and all-around game should provide a great spark for the Clips.

15. Rodney Stuckey (Pistons) ? Expect Stuckey to battle Flip Murray to be first guard off the bench in Detroit. If Stuckey emerges, he has the ability to provide scoring for a team looking for depth at the guard position.

16. Nick Young (Wizards) ? The Wizards drafted Young in hopes that he would relieve some of the scoring burden from their dynamic trio of Arenas, Butler and Jamison. If he proves capable, expect his minutes to continue to rise as the Wizards gain confidence in his scoring abilities

17. Sean Williams (Nets) ? Williams is a defensive beast, whom the Nets drafted for his shot-blocking prowess. With Krstic and Magloire assuming the starting positions, expect Williams to see fifteen-to-twenty minutes a game in attempt to shore up the defense.

18. Marco Belinelli (Warriors) ? The Warriors hope that Belinelli?s 22.8 points per game in the Summer League was a sign that he can help replace Jason Richardson.  Expect Belinelli to get solid minutes off the bench, as Nellie will continue to experiment with under-sized lineups.

19. Javaris Crittenton (Lakers) ? For the second consecutive season the Lakers used their first-round choice on a point guard.  With Smush Parker signing in Miami, expect to see Crittenton on the floor a good amount for the Purple and Gold, as the Lakers seem a bit disappointed with the progress in Jordan Farmar.

20. Jason Smith (Sixers) ?Expect Smith to be the first big man off the bench, and eventually push for the starting power forward job in Philly. Smith has a great face-up game with a nice touch ranging to eighteen feet, but to become a complete player he must add post moves to his repertoire.

21. Daequan Cook (Heat) ? Cook should be a part of the second unit, where he will be expected to replace Jason Kapono?s shooting.  The Heat understand that Cook is mostly unproven after only one season at Ohio State, and they will temper their expectations accordingly.

22. Jared Dudley (Bobcats) ? Expect Dudley to see some minutes off the bench as a rookie. In the Orlando Summer League he showed he can do more than just score, which will help increase his minutes on a young Charlotte team.

23. Wilson Chandler (Knicks) ? Chandler is an athletic swingman who performed well in Vegas, where the Knicks where undefeated. Chandler will struggle for minutes early, as the Knicks have loads of athletes with similar games (David Lee and Renaldo Balkman). However, Isiah will try to do whatever he can to give him an opportunity to earn minutes, as he loves athletes like Chandler.

24. Rudy Fernandez (Blazers) ? Fernandez is an athletic guard who can play both positions. He will spend the season in Europe.

25. Morris Almond (Jazz) ? Almond is a great shooter who will try to crack the rotation as a rookie. Proving he can do more than just shoot will increase his chances of serious minutes this season.

26. Aaron Brooks (Rockets) ? Brooks looked great in the Summer League and is deserving of minutes this season. The main obstacle for him will be the stockpile of small guards already on the roster (Alston, James, Head, Francis, Lucas). Assuming Brooks can get ahead of a few of them on the depth chart, he could shine.

27. Arron Afflalo (Pistons) ? Afflalo will see limited minutes early on, but will have an opportunity to earn minutes on a team that is hoping to have added depth in this draft.

28. Tiago Splitter (Spurs) ? Splitter finally makes it into the draft, and he lands with the perfect team. The defending champs have a knack for developing great foreign players and while it won?t be this season, Splitter will eventually contribute for the Spurs.

29. Alando Tucker (Suns) ? The Big Ten POY should see significant minutes off the bench for the run-and-gun Suns. Eventually, Tucker will have to learn to knock down open jumpers, until then he?ll fill the lanes and run the floor with Nash and Co.

30. Petteri Koponen (Portland) ? Koponen probably will not play for the Blazers this season, but the 6-4 point guard could be a factor for the Baby Blazers down the road.
